Ragin' Cajuns open indoor season with first of four meets
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns indoor track and field team opens its 2026 season on Friday when it makes the short trip to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Purple Tiger at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
The one-day, non-scoring meet begins at 9 a.m. with field events, followed by running events at noon. Louisiana will be joined by host LSU along with ULM, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, New Orleans, Dillard, Nicholls, Xavier (New Orleans), Lamar and Meridian Community College. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana enters the indoor season coming off its first Sun Belt Conference men's championship since 1996 and returns several all-conference performers. On the women's side, indoor school record-holders Lily Murray (weight throw), Ella Segura (3,000 meters) and Alaysha Veal (high jump) – the 2025 Sun Belt Conference indoor champion – are set to make their season debuts. Also scheduled to compete are three members of Louisiana's 2025 All-SBC 4x400-meter relay team: Quincy Simon, Shenell Tucker and Evalyn Abdmoulaie.
Isabelle Russell, the school record-holder in the women's outdoor 5,000 meters, will join Segura and nine other Ragin' Cajuns in the mile run, while returning letterwinner Reem Tammam is slated to compete in the triple jump.
