Veal Moves to Second in School Record Book on Final Day of East Regional

The sophomore matched the second-best jump in program history
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After setting the program's indoor record earlier this year, Alaysha Veal moved to second in the outdoor record book after the final day of the NCAA East Regional on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Lafayette native cleared 5-10.5/1.79 on her third attempt to set a personal best. The sophomore finished 14th overall, just missing out on qualifying for the national championships as five others cleared the same height but in fewer attempts.
Also competing on the day was Kimola Hines, the Sun Belt Conference discus champion. The senior's best throw was good enough to place 22nd at a distance of 164-2/50.04.
Louisiana finished the Regionals with one national qualifier, Jeremy Nelson. Nelson will compete on Friday, June 13 in Eugene, Oregon to close out the season.
