The junior will compete in Eugene for the second straight year
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second year in a row, Jeremy Nelson will represent Louisiana at the NCAA National Championships after punching his ticket in the triple jump on the third day of the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida.
Nelson finished ninth after jumping 52-4/15.95 on his first attempt. Nelson also cleared 51-11/15.82 on his final attempt, which would have been good enough to qualify him as well. The junior qualified for nationals last year, where he finished 21st in the country.
The men's 4x100m relay posted the third-fastest time in program history. The quartet of Chris Gravois, Mark Daley, Caemon Scott, and Lawson Jacobs improved on their season-best time and finished in 39.40, placing 19th.
After setting the school record on Wednesday, Joe Patterson ran in the 800m quarterfinals on Friday. The senior crossed the finish line in 1:50.06, finishing 22nd. Finishing the day was the men's 4x400m relay team of Camren Hardy, Scott, Jonathan Gamarra, and Jacobs, placing 20th in 3:08.06.
The Cajuns finish the East Regional tomorrow with a pair of women's events. Kimola Hines starts things off at noon in the discus before Alaysha Veal competes in the high jump at 1:30 p.m.
