Louisiana Heads to Jacksonville for NCAA East Regional

The Ragin' Cajuns will be represented by 17 athletes in 14 events over four days
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The postseason begins this week for the Louisiana track and field team heads to the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida. The Cajuns will have 17 athletes represent them across 14 events beginning Wednesday.
Louisiana is coming off a strong performance at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships, where the women finished second and the men were third. The Ragin' Cajuns claimed seven championships, five on the men's side and two on the women's, the team's most since 2012.Â
The Cajuns will have 12 men and five women compete over four days. In track events, first round action will take place Wednesday and Thursday. The top 24 finishers will advance to the national quarterfinals, which will take place on Friday and Saturday. The top three finishers in each quarterfinal heat, plus the next three best times, will advance to the semifinals. Field and relay events will have just one day of competition, with the top 12 finishers qualifying for the national championships in Eugene, Oregon.
