Louisiana In Third Place After 36 Holes at Aggie Invitational

Ragin' Cajuns to tee off at 8:40 a.m.; paired with Texas A&M, Oklahoma in final round
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Louisiana's Malan Potgieter capped off the opening day of the Aggie Invitational with an even-par 72 and finished in a fourth-place tie as the Ragin' Cajuns Golf team was third overall after 36 holes at Traditions Club at Texas A&M.
The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. Louisiana, which will be paired with host Texas A&M and No. 6-ranked Oklahoma in the final round, will tee off beginning at 8:40 a.m. from the No. 1 tee. Live scoring is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
Louisiana posted team scores of 6-over-294 in the first round and 7-over-295 in the second to finish at 589 through 36 holes. Texas A&M, ranked No. 19 nationally, claimed the first-day lead in the 12-team field at 573 with Oklahoma (580), Louisiana, Baylor (595) and Sam Houston (595) rounding out the top five.
Starting on the No. 10 tee, Potgieter collected six birdies on the day, including his final one at No. 8 to finish at 1-over-145 after 36 holes and four strokes behind leader Phichaksn Maichon of Texas A&M. The junior finished tied with a pair of top-50 ranked golfers – Oklahoma's Jase Summy (No. 5) and Ryder Cowan (No. 44) – along with Texas A&M's Jacob Sosa.
Eli Ortego posted identical rounds of 1-over-73 to sit in an eighth-place tie at 146 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Jean Louis du Plessis tied for 15th at 148 (73-75). Carter Schmitt recorded identical rounds of 3-over-75 to finish at 150 for Louisiana with Kyle Bennett posting rounds of 79 and 80 to finish at 159. Senior Dylan Keating, competing individually for the Ragin' Cajuns, recorded a 163 in the opening two rounds.
