Caleb Stelly and Connor Cuff had two hits each as Louisiana (15-15) won its fourth straight game while snapping a five-game win streak for Northwestern State (18-10).
Lee Amedee drove in a pair of runs, including a first-inning double, for Louisiana while Drew Markle's two-run single helped fuel a three-run first inning.
Pourciau, who entered the game with one plate appearance on the season, collected his first career hit in the second with a bunt single and scored on a Demon throwing error. The redshirt freshman added an opposite-field double off NSU starter Kevin Robinson (5-1) in the fourth inning before getting a single to left in the sixth.
Louisiana led 5-4 in the fifth inning when Hepworth ripped a two-out, two-run double down the left-field line to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 7-4 lead. The junior added his second hit of the game in the seventh when his base hit to left scored Casey Artigues, who led off the inning with a pinch-hit single.
Tate Hess (3-2), the second of four pitchers used by Louisiana, earned the win after scattered five hits and fanning six batters in 3.0 innings of relief. Riley Marcotte earned his second career start for the Ragin' Cajuns and allowed three hits and three runs in 3.0 innings of work.
Northwestern State scored three times in the third inning as Reese Lipoma's one-out double scored JD DiPrima. An RBI grounder by Samuel Stephenson drove in Hudson Brignac before Rocco Gump's single up the middle scored Lipoma.
The Demons closed the gap to 5-4 in the fourth when Colin Rains doubled to left to score Braden Benton. Benton belted his third home run of the season to lead off the sixth for the Demons before cutting the deficit to 9-7 in the eighth on a wild pitch and bases-loaded walk.
Wil Taylor pitched the final 1.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts to earn his second save of the year for Louisiana. Matthew Holzhammer fanned four batters in 1.2 innings for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Robinson took the loss for NSU, which plays at Tulane on Wednesday, after allowing four earned runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings. Brignac went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Demons while Lipoma, Gump, Benton and Rains had two hits apiece.
Louisiana will continue its nine-game homestand on Wednesday when it welcomes in-state foe Louisiana Tech (17-12) in a 6 p.m. contest. Fans can listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
