Louisiana Holds Off JMU In Wild Saturday Night Affair, 8-7

Conor Higgs went 2-for-3 and tripled for the second consecutive game as Louisiana (13-15, 5-3 SBC) scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings to clinch the three-game series over JMU (9-18, 4-4 SBC).
The series will conclude on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Blake McGehee (3-3), the second of six pitchers used by Louisiana, earned the win after relieving starter Andrew Herrmann in the fourth inning. Freshman Wil Taylor pitched the final 1.1 innings and struck out two to earn his collegiate save.
Griffin Hebert went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Ragin' Cajuns, who finished with 11 hits in the contest.
JMU's Casey Smith (1-2) took the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits in 3.0 innings. Coleman Calabrese led the Dukes at the plate going 4-for-5 with a solo home run. Ryan Dooley, Wyatt Peifer and Kyle Langley had two hits apiece for JMU, which took advantage of four Louisiana errors to score four unearned runs.
