Louisiana Closes Weekend With Big Day at Bobcat Relays

The Ragin’ Cajuns had five scores in the top 30 in the nation
SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Louisiana track and field team continued to prove they're one of the premier programs in the country on Saturday at the Bobcat Relays in San Marcos, Texas. The Cajuna posted five scores in the top 30 in the NCAA, two entries to the school record book, and a meet record on the day.
The day ended with a bang as the Ragin' Cajuns set the meet record in the 4x400m relay. Jonathan Gamarra, Caemon Scott, Camren Hardy, and Lawson Jacobs set the meet record at 3:08.09, the sixth-best 4x400m so far this outdoor season.
Jeremy Nelson set the third-best triple jump in the country at 52-6.50/16.01m. The women's triple jump saw Reem Tammam, 40-9.75/12.44m, move to 25th in the nation and Kay-Lagay Clarke, 39-8.5/12.10m, move to 53rd in the country after today. Clarke also had a strong performance in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.82 to finish sixth.
Louisiana had nationally competitive times in both the men's and women's 100m. Chaniqua Tonge's 11.57 moved her to ninth in school history and 30th nationally, while Amairi Ashford ran an 11.71 to move to 53rd. On the men's side, Mark Daley is 20th in the country with a time of 10.36.
Praiyer Jones entered the record books in the shot put, finishing with a throw of 56-5.75/17.21m. That put him fifth in program history and 72nd in the country. Alaysha Veal also had a strong showing, placing fourth in the women's high jump at 5-7.25/1.71m. The Cajuns also had a top-10 showing from Lily Murray in the hammer, placing seventh after a throw of 186-11/56.98m.
In the women's 4x100m, the Ragin' Cajuns placed second with Jaala Thymes, Ashford, Quincy Simon, and Tonge finishing in 44.88. Later in the day, Simon, Shenell Tucker, Kenzie Touchet, and Evalyn Abdmoulaie placed ninth at 3:49.79.
The Cajuns are back in action next Saturday at LSU in the Pelican Relays.
