Louisiana Heads to Hattiesburg for SBC Opener

The Cajuns have won four of the last five in the series
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Louisiana men's tennis team opens Sun Belt Conference play on Sunday, March 16, against Southern Miss at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
The Ragin' Cajuns enter the match looking to bounce back after dropping both contests on their recent road trip, falling to Charlotte, 6-1, and Gardner-Webb, 5-2. Louisiana found success in doubles play against Charlotte winning on courts two and three. Darius Balan and Mason Landreth dominated in a 6-2 victory on court three, while Oriol Fillat Gimenez and William Jade clinched the point with a 6-3 win on court two.
In singles play, Louisiana picked up two wins against Gardner-Webb. On court three, Jade secured his fifth win of the year, coming from behind to win, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Leonard Tramolay earned his fourth victory of the season on court six, battling for a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 result.
Southern Miss (2-9) recently defeated Alcorn State, 5-2, and has a 2-3 home record this season.
Louisiana holds an 11-3 advantage over Southern Miss in their last 14 matchups. In their most recent meeting on April 7, 2024, the Ragin' Cajuns dominated singles play to secure a 4-1 victory at Cajun Courts. However, the last time Louisiana traveled to Hattiesburg, the Golden Eagles came out on top with a 6-1 win.
Following Sunday's match, Louisiana will return home to face Georgia State on March 23 at Cajun Courts beginning at 10 a.m.
