Ragin' Cajuns captured early momentum before singles play shifts momentum
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis squad showed early fight on the road on Monday, March 16, capturing the doubles point, but UTSA rallied in singles play to claim a 6-1 victory at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Louisiana – playing in San Antonio for the second straight day after facing Incarnate Word on Sunday – opened the match with strong doubles play.
Nikola Kolyachev and David Simeonov delivered a decisive 6-2 win over Oskar Grzegorzewski and Constantin Radu at No. 2 to open an advantage. Later, the duo of Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay edged Enzo Vargas and Timeo Bretin in a 7-6 (7-4) thriller at the No. 1 position to secure the early point for the Ragin' Cajuns (6-6).
UTSA (2-10) answered in singles competition, claiming all six matches to turn the momentum.
Several contests featured tight stretches, including Darius Balan's comeback effort at No. 5 that forced a deciding set, Kolyachev's close call on Court 6 where each set was decided by two points and Leonard Tramolay's three-set battle at No. 2.
