Ragin' Cajuns earn points from Landreth and Balan in 5-2 contest
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team battled deep into Sunday's match in the Alamo City, but dropped a 5-2 decision to Incarnate Word on Sunday, March 15 at the Mabry Tennis Center.
Louisiana (6-5) opened the afternoon with a strong showing in doubles as the tandem of Mason Landreth and Leonard Tramolay powered past Santiago Flyckt and Marcel Miralles, 6-1, on Court 1. However, UIW claimed the remaining two courts –slipping by 8-6 in the tiebreaker in the deciding match out on Court 2 – to secure the doubles point and take the early advantage.
Landreth later answered in singles with a gritty performance at the top position. The Ragin' Cajuns' No. 1 outlasted Alejandro Hernandez in a three-set battle, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3, to earn UL its first singles point of the day.
Darius Balan also rallied for the Ragin' Cajuns, overcoming a first-set loss to defeat Flyckt, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, at the No. 5 position.
Incarnate Word (8-1) had secured the match victory by capturing the first three singles courts that finished play, recording straight-set victories on Courts 2, 3 and 4, before notching its final point on Court 6.
