Cajuns Continue Strong Spring on Night One of Music City Challenge

Louisiana won an event and had a new entry into the program record book
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Louisiana track and field team won an event and saw a new entry into the school's record book on the first night of the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee.
Louisiana started the day with a win in the men's high jump. Kaleb Goodly was the lone competitor to clear 6-8 to earn the win. Teammate, and fellow freshman, Kyron Sumler placed fourth after clearing 6-6 on his third attempt.
Etching her name in the record book was Reem Tammam. She jumped 19-11, the fourth-longest indoor jump by a Ragin' Cajun, to place second overall. In the unseeded long jump, the Cajuns placed a pair on the podium. Kay-Lagay Clarke was second with a jump of 18-5.25 while Courtney Wiltz was third at 18-4.25.
Jasmine Sakaguchi was second in the pole vault at 12-2.5, just ahead of teammate Lauren Roberts who was fifth at 11-8.5. Lily Murray had another strong performance in the weight throw, placing third at 62-2.5. Alaysha Veal rounded out a good day in field events for the women with a third-place showing in the high jump at 5-8.
Oliver Jack was fifth in the weight throw in a tight field with a throw of 63-1.5. The Cajuns closed the day with Jarell Joseph placing third in the men's 600m at 1:20.28 and Shenell Tucker finishing fourth in the women's 600m at 1:36.37.
The Cajuns wrap up the Music City Challenge tomorrow beginning at 8:30 a.m.
