Louisiana Looks to Continue Strong Indoor Performances in Nashville

The Ragin’ Cajuns set two school records and won seven events last time out
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Louisiana track and field team looks to continue performing at a high level this weekend at the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee starting Friday.Â
The last time out the Cajuns set a pair of school records at the Robert Platt Invitational. Lily Murray took down the weight throw record at 64-1, beating the old record by Tisay Woodhouse by nearly three feet. Joe Patterson also wrote his name at the top of the record books in the 800 with a time of 1:50.25, breaking the record of 1:50.45 set in 1992 by Joel Chesimet.
Patterson leads the SBC by nearly two seconds in the 800 heading into the team's final warm-up before the conference championships. Louisiana also leads the conference in the men's 4x400 with the quartet of Caemon Scott, Jarrell Joseph, Mark Dailey, and Lawson Jacobs running a time of 3:12.01.
Louisiana joins a long list of competing schools starting Friday, February 14, including Alabama, Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Believe Anyway, Belmont, Berry, Carson-Newman, Cincinnati, Cleveland High School, Colorado, Cumberlands, Evansville, FIU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Harding, Illinois State, Jacksonville College, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lee (Tenn.), LeMoyne-Owen, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Meridian Community College, Miami (Ohio), Mississippi College, Mississippi State, MTSU, Murray State, New Orleans, North Dakota State, NYAC, Oglethorpe, Ole Miss, Purdue, SCAD Atlanta, ShaZam Racing, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT-Martin, Toad Track Club, Troy, UAB, UCF, UT Southern, UTSA, Wallace State, Xavier and host Vanderbilt.
The Cajuns are off until February 24 with the start of the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
