Louisiana Opens Final Homestand Against Troy

The Cajuns look to snap a three-game skid against the Trojans

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's basketball team returns to the Cajundome to face Troy in Sun Belt Conference action on Wednesday. The Cajuns enter the week as one of five schools in the SBC tied for eighth place.
 
The Cajuns are coming off a comeback win over Northern Illinois on Saturday. Trailing by as as many as 13, Louisiana overcame a slow start for the 66-64 win. That earned the Cajuns a split as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge for the second year in a row. 
 
Kentrell Garnett led the way with 12 points and was the only Cajun in double figures. All 10 players scored and grabbed a rebound in the win. Five players had multiple assists with Garnett, Kyran Ratliff, and Michael Thomas leading the way with three each.
 
Troy comes in after losing their last two to James Madison and Miami (OH) on the road. The Trojans are just 5-6 on the year on the road. They're led offensively by Tayton Conerway's 13.3 points per game.

Story Lines
• Louisiana looks to snap a three-game losing streak against Troy. Prior to that the Cajuns had won 15 of 16 in the series.
Kentrell Garnett became the 52nd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point scoring mark against Georgia Southern. Garnett has had a season filled with milestones already. This season he has broken the program record for games played and has cracked the school's top-five list for career three-pointers. Louisiana is the 44th program in NCAA Division I to have 52+ 1,000-point scorers.
• The Ragin' Cajuns were one of four Sun Belt Conference schools to win in the second round of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Louisiana split the event for the second straight year.
Mostapha El Moutaouakkil continues to produce in SBC play. The junior is 10th in scoring (16.1) and rebounding (7.0) in SBC games. He is also 5th in the league in free throw percentage (.838) and 2nd in makes (67).
• The Cajuns are second in the league in turnover margin at 2.00 for the season, only trailing South Alabama at 4.68. Louisiana is also second in the league in free throw shooting at .741 percent.
