Louisiana in ninth place in 16-team field; final round set for Tuesday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Malan Potgieter continued his pursuit of a fifth top-5 finish in as many events during the fall portion of the 2025-26 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf schedule while Jean Louis du Plessis matched his lowest round as a Cajun during the opening day of the Everett Buick GMC Classic on Monday at Chenal Country Club.
 
The final round of the 54-hole event begins at 8:15 a.m., with the 16-team field competing in a shotgun start. Live results are available at Scoreboard.Clippd.com.
 
Louisiana, competing in its final event of the fall season, posted team scores of 5-under-283 in the first round and 1-over-289 in the second to sit in ninth place at 4-under-572 after 36 holes.
 
Potgieter, who has recorded four finishes in the top-4 overall and posted a combined score of 42-under-par entering the tournament, opened the day with a 5-under 67 – his eighth round in the 60's this season. Potgieter added a 2-under-par 70 in the second round to finish tied for fifth overall at 7-under-137 after 36 holes and four strokes behind first-day leader Minas Manias of Lipscomb (133).
 
Du Plessis fired an even-par 72 in the opening round for Louisiana before catching fire in the second round and posting a 4-under 68 – matching his UL-best set in the opening round of the Lake Las Vegas Invitational. The South African capped off the day in a tie for 12th-place in the 88-player field.
 
Freshman Drew Sliman recorded a career-low round of 2-under 70 in the opening round for the Ragin' Cajuns before shooting a 3-over-75 to finish at 1-over-145 after 36 holes. Freshman Nathan Schuldt, making his collegiate debut and playing as an individual, posted an even-par 72 in the opening round and a 3-over-75 in the second to finish at 3-over-147.
 
Host Little Rock claimed the first-day lead at 553 with Southern Miss (564) and Lipscomb (564) tied for second. Coastal Carolina (565) and James Madison (565) were one stroke back to round out the top five.
