Ragin' Cajuns Finish Tied For Seventh at Everett Buick GMC Classic

Louisiana wraps up fall portion of schedule; will resume on Feb. 16-17 at Border Olympics
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Jean Louis du Plessis capped a strong fall season with his best 54-hole performance in a Louisiana uniform, helping the Ragin' Cajuns Golf team finish tied for seventh at the Everett Buick GMC Classic on Tuesday at Chenal Country Club.
Louisiana closed out its fall schedule with an even-par 288 in the final round to finish at 6-under 858 for the tournament – its second-lowest team total of the season.
Du Plessis, who opened with rounds of 72 and 68 on Monday, carded a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to finish tied for 11th at 5-under 211. Teammate Malan Potgieter also tied for 11th in the 88-player field after a final-round 74.
Freshman Drew Sliman turned in back-to-back rounds of 1-over 73 to finish even-par 216 and in 35th place, while Jay Brooks finished at 233 after a 79 in the final round.
Ellis Bright fired Louisiana's low round of the day with a 2-under 70, and freshman Nathan Schuldt (72-75-78-225) placed 67th overall while competing as an individual.
Host Little Rock claimed the team title with a 54-hole total of 830, finishing 21 strokes ahead of second-place UAB (851). Lipscomb (852), North Texas (854) and Coastal Carolina (854) rounded out the top five in the 16-team field.
Louisiana will return to action on Feb. 16-17 when it opens the spring portion of its 2025-26 schedule at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas.
