Louisiana Looks to Build Off Strong Start at Robert Platt Invitational

The Cajuns posted 14 personal records, nine top 100 NCAA scores, and two new entries into the record book in their indoor opener
HOUSTON, Texas - After a strong start at the Purple Tiger Invite, the Louisiana track and field team heads to Houston for the Robert Platt Invitational.
Joe Patterson had a terrific week, winning the 800 and setting a personal best in the mile, to earn the Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week. He was one of seven individuals to win an event.Â
Lily Murray won the weight throw at 18.4m, the second-longest in school history. Just behind her in the event was Kimola Hines, whose throw of 17.5m is the fourth-longest in school history. Teodor Bogius claimed the pole vault at 5.02m. Louisiana swept the triple jump, with Jeremy Nelson, 15.45m, winning on the men's side while Reem Tammam, 12.19m, was the women's winner.
Alexandra Johnson won the 600, and Juliana Courville won the 800 to complete the individual winners. The Cajuns closed the day with a sweep of the 4x400.Â
Louisiana joins host Houston, East Texas A&M, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Sam Houston, St. Thomas, Texas A&M - Kingsville, Texas Southern, and ULM. Friday begins at 11 a.m. with pentathlon/heptathlon events. Field events begin at 3 p.m. and track at 4 p.m. on Friday. Saturday starts at 9:30 a.m. with the final heptathlon events while field events start at 10:30 a.m. and track at noon.
