Three Cajuns Named LSWA Honorable Mentions

The trio earned an honorable mention for the first time
LAFAYETTE - The trio of Lucy Ortiz, Lauren Bennett, and Natalie Mayes earned All-Louisiana Sports Writers Association honorable mention on Saturday the organization announced. The team was voted on by the state's women's soccer sports information directors.
Ortiz led the Ragin' Cajuns in scoring in her senior campaign. She finished with a career-high four goals after spending the majority of her collegiate career playing in a defensive position. She also added an assist in the team's season-ending win over Marshall.
Bennett was a constant force on the defensive end for the Cajuns. The senior logged a team-high 1,649 minutes and played a full 90 16 times. Bennett was instrumental in the team allowing their fewest goals in school history, 22, and recording seven shutouts.
Mayes was the goalkeeper for those seven shutouts, a new single-season school record. The sophomore tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead in shutouts and recorded 46 saves on the year behind a stingy Cajun defense.
