The Cajuns won the first match-up in Lafayette 71-68
MONROE, LA. – Just a week after a second half comeback victory over ULM, the Louisiana men's basketball team travels to Monroe to face the Warhawks on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
The Cajuns trailed by as many as 11 in the second half before surging back to beat ULM 71-68. Kentrell Garnett had a team-leading 15 points with five assists, playing all 40 minutes. The senior made history, breaking the program record for games played with his 137th appearance in vermillion and white.
Garnett is closing in on 1,000 points for his collegiate career, sitting at 937. He is also fifth in school history with 216 made three-pointers, behind Randell Daigle's 227.
Louisiana looks for their third season sweep of ULM in the last four seasons. The teams have split their last six meetings in Monroe, but Louisiana has taken three of four.
Unless these two sides meet in the Sun Belt Conference Championships, this will be the final meeting between the Ragin' Cajuns and long-time Warhawk head coach Keith Richard. Richard, in his 15th season at ULM, announced his retirement earlier this season. Between his stops at ULM and Louisiana Tech, the Cajuns boast a 22-13 record against Richard.
