Johnson and Quintana Lead the Way in Cross Country Opener

Louisiana opened the season in the Battle for New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - The Louisiana cross country team opened the 2024 campaign at the Battle for New Orleans on Friday. Alexandra Johnson led the way for the women who placed fifth as a team while the men were fourth behind the efforts of Josh Quintana.

Johnson clocked in at 16:01.83 and finished 28th. Juliana Courville was behind her at 16:11.63 in 30th. Chloe Crowell was 32nd with a time of 16:25.37 while Peyton Sievers was 35th at 16:48.21. Ava Lemoine rounded out the scorers in 40th at 17:03.42.

Quintana led the Ragin' Cajuns in his first collegiate race with a time of 15:55.60, finishing in 24th place. Matthew Maynard was just behind him in 27th with a time of 15:58.12. Owen Tauzin placed 28th at 16:02.23 while Ben Lewis was 32nd at 16:22. 65 and Justin Descant was 43rd at 17:03.00.

Louisiana is back in action at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, September 13.
