Cajuns in 10th heading into Sunday's final round
BRYAN, Texas – Malan Potgieter posted one of only 10 rounds below par among a 76-player field, recording a 1-under-par 71 in the afternoon session to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team during the opening day of the 2024 Aggie Invitational at The Traditions Golf Club.

The final round of the 54-hole event will begin on Sunday at 7:20 a.m. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

Louisiana posted team scores of 302 and 307 to finish at 609 on the rugged, par-72, 7,227-yard course. The Ragin' Cajuns finished nine strokes behind defending champion Louisville (600), fifth overall in the 12-team field, along with UTSA (601), Memphis (604), LSU (605) and Florida Gulf Coast (607).

Potgieter opened the day with a 3-over 75 before posting one of six rounds of below par in the second round to finish in a tie for seventh place at 2-over-146 after 36 holes – three shots behind first-day leader Zach Heffernan of Baylor.

Eli Ortego posted rounds of 77 and 74 to finish in a tie for 19th place at 151 for Louisiana with Dylan Keating (75-82-157), Jake Marler (75-86-161) and freshman Matthew Lotz (82-80-162) following. Burke Alford, competing individually for Louisiana, finished at 163 (79-84).

Baylor, one of four teams ranked in the top-50 nationally, finished as the first-day leader at 582 with host Texas A&M 12 strokes back at 594. Louisiana Tech placed third at 598 with Sam Houston (599) fourth and Louisville fifth.
