Louisiana Prepped for SBC Championships After Big Day in Monroe

The Cajuns recorded 14 program top 10s on the day
MONROE, Louisiana - The Louisiana track and field team is red hot heading into the Sun Belt Conference Championships after recording 14 entries into the school record book on Saturday at the Warhawk Classic in Monroe, Louisiana.
The Cajuns dominated in the 100, going 1-2-3 on the women's side while the men had a pair in the top five. Mari Robinson (11.42) won the 100 and moved to fourth in program history. Right behind her with the fifth-fastest time by a Cajun was Amari Ashford (11.52) while Ta'La Spates (11.59) moved to eighth in the record book.
Jamhad Booth's time of 10.20 put him second in school history, just edging out Trejun Jones (10.22) who moved up to fourth in program history. Floyd Pond also wrote his name in the books with a 10.30, eighth in school history.
Robinson continued her big day in the 200 with the third-fastest time by a Cajun at 23.36. Moseiha Bridgen also moved up the leaderboard with a 23.77, putting herself eighth. Spates went on to win the 400H at 59.00, improving on her personal best and moved up to third all-time.
In the 100H, Kennedy London came home victorious on the day with a time of 13.52. Kayla Meyers placed third with a personal-best 13.68, cracking the top 10 in school history. In the 110H, Cole Palmer moved up to seventh in program history at 13.96.
The day started with Emma Bacilla taking second in the javelin and moving to 10th in the record books with a throw of 154-10. The Cajuns had a dominating performance in the discus as well. Tyren Hannah won the men's side at 173-6 and vaulted him into fourth in Louisiana history. Kimola Hines was victorious on the women's side at 163-5 while Jaydan Jackson placed third overall and moved to eighth in school history with a throw of 146-5.
The strong day didn't just include the record holders. Marin Barras placed third in the javelin at 152-6. Jackson also took third in the shot put with a distance of 44-4.
Federico Bovo won the pole vault (14-5.5) and was third in the high jump (6-8.25) In the pole vault invitational, Nick Russell was second at 15-11.25. On the women's side, Jordan Brown came in third at 12-4.
Javed Jones won the 400 with a time of 47.16. Moseiha Bridgen placed third for the women at 55.49. In the 800 Juliana Courville finished second at 2:18.17. Louisiana also won a pair of relays on the day. The women started the day with Ashford, Spates, London, and Robinson taking the 4x100 with a time of 45.20. The men capped the day with Antoni Hoyte-Small, Javed Jones, Jarell Joseph, and Mekhi Boutte winning the 4x400 at 3:12.89.
Jeremy Nelson was the victor in the men's triple jump at 51-3. Taylor Davis took third in the triple jump with a distance of 40-11 while Kennedy Washington finished third in the high jump at 5-8.
Louisiana is off for a week before heading back to Monroe for the Sun Belt Conference Championships beginning May 9.
