Louisiana Takes Aim at the Top Spot at the SBC Championships

MONROE, Louisiana - The Louisiana track and field team is hot heading into this week's Sun Belt Conference Championships in Monroe, Louisiana. This spring the Cajuns are all over the top of the conference, posting 29 top-five scores this outdoor season.

The Cajuns have rewritten the record book in a big way this spring, putting 54 new entries into it. The women lead the way with 38 of them, including school records in the 800 (Alexandra Johnson, 2:08.97), 4x800 (Skylar Delgado, Abbey Marie Ratcliff, Ella Segura, and Caroline Spalitta, 9:16.92), and the hammer (Lily Murray, 189-11). The men also set a program record this season in the 4x100 (Trejun Jones, Zahky Munro, Floyd Pond, and Jamhad Booth, 39.31).

Coming into the week the Cajuns are ranked number one by the USTFCCCA conference rankings for both the men and women. Regionally the women are ranked 11th and the men 14th in the South Central Region.

The three-day event begins from the Groseclose Track at Brown Stadium in Monroe at 10:30 a.m.
