Final tuneup for Ragin' Cajuns before SBC opener Friday at A-State
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team plays its final non-conference matchup on Wednesday before opening Sun Belt Conference action this weekend when it faces in-state rival Louisiana Tech at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana, which opens SBC play beginning Friday at Arkansas State, earned consecutive walk-off victories over Tulane last weekend to improve its record to 8-7 on the season. The Ragin' Cajuns claimed a 5-4 victory over the Green Wave on Lee Amedee's RBI double last Saturday before Kyle DeBarge delivered a three-run, home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 win on Sunday.
The meeting with Louisiana Tech (13-4) will be the 157th overall between the schools with Louisiana holding an 84-72 lead. The teams split in last year's home-and-home series with both teams winning at home.
Louisiana will send right-hander Murphy Brooks (2-0, 3.60 ERA) to the mound with the Bulldogs' starter to be determined.
Trey LaFleur (.444-3-10), DeBarge (.317-6-18), Jose Torres (.310-1-6) and Lee Amedee (.289-1-5) are the top hitters for Louisiana
