Louisiana Women Wrap Up November Homestand Tuesday Night

Ragin’ Cajuns seek to continue winning ways ahead of weekend road trip
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team meets former Sun Belt foe New Orleans on Tuesday, November 26 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Cajundome, completing the squad's November homestand.

Louisiana (2-1) enters on a two-game win streak and seeks to complete an undefeated run through the homestand. The Cajuns have won the last nine meetings with the Privateers (0-5) who make their first trip to the Cajundome since November 2021 and are in search of their first win of the season.

The Ragin' Cajuns, closer to full strength with the return of three additional players including preseason All-SBC pick Jaylyn James, have six players averaging at least eight points per game and rank No. 1 nationally in three-point field goal percentage (48.6%).

Admission to Tuesday's game – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.

The UL Women's Basketball program is hosting the Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana and invites all members of the association to participate in a pregame high five tunnel, halftime recognition and postgame autograph signing. It's also Disney Night featuring themed games and music.

Louisiana competes in the Big Easy Classic being held at the Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana over Thanksgiving weekend from Friday-Saturday November 29-30.

The Ragin' Cajuns are slated to compete in the opening game of the Big Easy Classic each day, both of their contests set for an 11:00 a.m. tip-off. UL faces Cleveland State on Friday (Nov. 29), followed by a matchup with 2024 WNIT runner-up Minnesota on Saturday (Nov. 30).

- Louisiana concludes its November homestand hosting New Orleans in the third and final game of the stretch.
- It's the start of a three-game week which continues Thanksgiving weekend in the Big Easy Classic at the Alario Center with games against Cleveland State and Minnesota.
- On the homestand, which opened November 8, the Ragin' Cajuns have defeated Loyola (La.) and NIcholls.
- Boosted by a combined 29 bench points from Nubia Benedith and Jaylyn James, UL had a successful return from a two-week break on Friday (Nov. 22) with a 60-55 win over NIcholls.
- Louisiana carries a nine-game series win streak over New Orleans into Tuesday's matchup.
- Since the 2003-04 season, UL has won 19 of the last 21 meetings and is 6-0 vs. UNO with Garry Brodhead.
- Led by Jaylyn James' 16.0 ppg, UL has several scoring options with six players averaging at least 8.0 ppg.
- Three games in, the Cajuns are averaging 13.3 offensive rebounds while yielding only seven per game.
- UL has yet to yield 60 points on the young season, holding D1 foes to an average of 56 points.
- The season opener at Northern Illinois was the only game outside the state of Louisiana until the Dec. 29 SBC opener at Georgia Southern. UL is currently in a stretch where eight straight games (five at home) are in the state.
