Louisiana faces Liberty for the first time in program history
ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Louisiana men's basketball team looks to bounce back this weekend at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam beginning Friday. The Cajuns take on Liberty for the first time in program history in the opening round.
The Cajuns are the first Sun Belt Conference school to appear in the event, celebrating its 24th anniversary. They are one of four first-time teams at the Paradise Jam along with Longwood, George Washington, and McNeese.
After opening the weekend with Liberty, the Cajuns will face either Kansas State or George Washington. On the other side of the bracket are Longwood, UAB, Illinois State, and McNeese. Outside of annual opponent McNeese, Louisiana has little history with the other schools in the event. They have faced UAB five times, last playing in 2009, and Kansas State once, back in 1972.
