Louisiana Places Six on CSC Academic All-District Team

The six advance to the CSC Academic All-American ballot
LAFAYETTEÂ - The Louisiana soccer team placed six student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team the organization announced on Tuesday.
Tatum Beck, Natalie Mayes, Lucy Ortiz, Lily Parker, Mariella Stephens, and Sisley Stephens were all named to the All-District Team. It was the second straight selection for Beck and the Stephens sisters.Â
The team is selected based on a player's performance on the pitch and in the classroom. Qualifiers must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and competed in at least 90 percent of the team's competitions.
Beck, a kinesiology major from Flower Mound, Texas, posted a 3.61 GPA. The senior tied for the team lead with nine points and scored three goals. She capped her Cajun career with a game-winning goal in the season finale in the team's 2-1 win over Marshall before checking out for the final time as a collegiate athlete.
Mayes, a biology major, had a 4.0 GPA and was the team's primary goalkeeper this season. The Lantana, Texas native set the program record this season with seven shutouts and tied for the SBC lead in that category.
Ortiz, the team's captain, posted a 3.95 GPA as a communications major. The senior tied for the team lead with nine points and t four goals. Early in the season, she became the first player in program history to score against LSU when she gave the team a 1-0 lead in Baton Rouge.
Parker had a 3.55 GPA as a business administration major. Parker missed all of last season and had played just nine games in her collegiate career, beginning in 2020. This season she solidified a strong Louisiana defense that allowed the fewest goals against in program history, making 18 starts and playing in 1,236 minutes.
Mariella Stephens, a speech pathology and audiology major, recorded a 3.96 GPA for the Ragin' Cajuns. The senior started 19 games, scoring a pair of goals and recording a pair of assists. She finished second on the team in minutes with 1,465 and had a team-high 28 shots.
Sisley Stephens had a 3.86 GPA as an industrial design major. The junior was one of two Cajuns to start every game this season while scoring twice and assisting on two goals. She tallied 1,206 minutes on the pitch, one of eight players to go over 1,000 minutes this season.   Â
