Louisiana Gets Rounds In Before Darkness Suspends Play at The Clerico

Cajuns post team score of 590; Ortego in eighth place heading to final round
TULSA, Okla. – Eli Ortego fired a 36-hole score of 2-over-par 142 to finish six strokes off the individual lead and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns were one of nine teams to complete play before the opening day of The Clerico was suspended due to darkness on Monday at the Oaks Country Club.
Four teams were stranded on the course when the second round was called and will resume play on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The final round of the 54-hole tournament will start with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Live results will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
Louisiana posted team scores of 296 and 294 to finish at 590 on the par-70, 6,950-yard course with Ortego leading the way. The senior opened the day with a 3-over-73 in the first round before posting his third round in the 60's during the 2024-25 season after shooting a 1-under-69.
Malan Potgieter (76-74-150), Burke Alford (75-75-150) and Carter Schmitt (72-78-150) each recorded a 10-over-150 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Jean Louis du Plessis (76-76-152) sitting at 12-over-152.
Host Oral Roberts claimed the opening day lead at 4-over-564. UTEP (571) and Northwestern (573) followed in the team standings with Little Rock, Duke and Santa Clara still on the course when play was suspended.
