MIAMI – Megan Bradley's two first half goals in a span of 48 seconds gave the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team strong momentum on the road, but host Florida International added a pair of goals in the second half as the team battled to a 2-2 draw on Sunday at the FIU Soccer Stadium.
FIU's Noemi Paquin and Kim Schneider each scored in the second half as FIU (4-1-1), ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches South Region, rallied after entering the match with 21 goals on the season while allowing two.
Louisiana (3-1-2) capitalized on a frantic pace by both teams in the opening half as Bradley took a thru pass from Cassandra Decombe, beat FIU goalie Ithaisa Vinoly out of the 18-yard box and scored on an empty net goal early in the 27th minute.
Bradley scored her third goal of the season and gave Louisiana a 2-0 lead just under a minute later when she poked away the ball from an FIU defender and beat Vinoly to the lower, left corner of the goal.
FIU cut the lead in half in the 49th minute when Braelyn Viamille's attempt caromed off Louisiana's Makenna Garcia and Paquin cleaned it up for her third goal of the year.
The Panthers, who held a 20-7 advantage in shots, tied the match in the 74th minute when Schneider scored high over the out-stretched hands of Garcia for her fourth goal of the season.
Garcia stopped a career-high 10 shots for Louisiana, including a near point blank attempt by FIU's Nikole Solis in the 61st minute.
Karleen Bedre, Alyssa Abbott and Hailly Waterhouse joined Bradley in placing shots on goal for the Ragin' Cajuns with Vinoly earning three saves for the Panthers.
Louisiana returns home to close out its non-conference schedule with a pair of matches beginning on Thursday (Sept. 7) against Alcorn State at 6 p.m. The Ragin' Cajuns will then close out their two-match homestand on Sunday (Sept. 10) in a 5 p.m. battle against Lamar at the Home Bank Track and Soccer Complex.
