Ragin' Cajuns Visit SFA To Wrap Up Weekend Trip

Louisiana makes second visit to Piney Woods to face Lumberjacks
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Coming off a 3-0 win over in-state opponent Grambling in its last match, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team caps off the first of two straight weekends on the road on Sunday when it battles Stephen F. Austin at the SFA Soccer Field.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available at CajunStats.com.
Louisiana (2-0-1), playing its third match on the road to begin the season, broke a scoreless draw early in the second half on freshman Sophie Placke's first collegiate goal before freshmen Anneliese Switzer and Bailey Giddings followed with their first collegiate goals.
Makenna Garcia stopped a pair of shots to notch her second straight shutout for Louisiana with Sisley Stephens and Karleen Bedre earning assists.
Louisiana, which makes its second-ever trip to face SFA (1-2-0), caps off a stretch of five matches in a six-match span on the road with matches next week at Florida Atlantic (Aug. 31) and Florida International (Sept. 3).
Stephens (1 goal, 1 assist) leads Louisiana in scoring through the first three matches and is one of six players to find the back of the net. Emma Bates and Megan Bradley have each scored goals for the Ragin' Cajuns with freshman Mary Mueth adding an assist.
SFA opened its season with a 4-0 loss at Oklahoma State before capping off its opening weekend with a 1-0 victory at Tulsa. The Lumberjacks dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Houston on Thursday with freshman Caelynn January scoring her first collegiate goal.
