Louisiana Welcomes Tulane For Midweek Baseball on Tuesday

Ragin' Cajuns host Green Wave at Russo Park for first time since 2020
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team opens a stretch of playing four games in a five-day period on Tuesday when it welcomes in-state rival Tulane for a midweek contest at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard in the Lafayette area on 103.3 The Goat, 1420 AM and worldwide on the Varsity Network app. Fans can also follow live stats at CajunStats.com.
Louisiana (19-9) welcomes Tulane (8-20) for the first time since 2020 and leads the all-time series, 52-47. The in-state programs meet for the first time overall since the Ragin' Cajuns claimed a series victory in New Orleans during the opening weekend of the 2021 season.
The Ragin' Cajuns closed out their Sun Belt Conference series against visiting App State with a 6-0 victory with Cooper Rawls, Blake McGehee and Brendan Moody combining on a six-hitter. Julian Brock's sixth-inning, grand slam – his third in the last 10 games – broke open a 1-0 contest and helped Louisiana to its third shutout of the season.
Heath Hood, who has reached base safely in his last 45 games dating back to last season, leads Louisiana at the plate with a .392 average. Brock (.356-8-38), Ben Robichaux (.316-0-1) and Carson Roccaforte (.307-1-22) follow Hood in hitting for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Right-hander JT Etheridge (1-1, 6.75 ERA) will make his first career start for Louisiana with Tulane countering with right-hander Gavin Smith (0-0, 10.29 ERA) making his first start for the Green Wave.
Tulane opened American Athletic Conference play last weekend at home taking two of three games from Memphis, capped by Teo Banks' two-run homer in the 11th inning for a 6-5 victory. Brady Hebert (.291-1-10) and Brady Marget (.287-5-13) are the top hitters for the Green Wave.
