Pair of Third Place Finishes Highlight Day One of Maroon and White Invite

STARKVILLE, MS – There weren't many events featuring the Louisiana track and field team on the Maroon and White Invitational opening night in Starkville, Mississippi, but that didn't stop the Cajuns from staking their claim at the podium.
Tylen Hannah started the day in the men's discus with a third-place finish after his throw of 47.70 meters. Taylor Davis followed with a third-place finish in the women's high jump (1.67 meters).
While they were the only Cajuns on the podium there were other stellar showings. Moseisha Bridgen (24.06) and Ta'La Spates (24.07) were sixth and seventh in the women's 200-meter dash, finishing 0.01 seconds apart. Courtney Wiltz took home a sixth-place finish in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.83 meters. In the women's hammer throw, Marin Barras placed fifth with a distance of 51.43 meters.
Trejun Jones just missed a podium finish in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 20.86 seconds to place fourth. Obdarius Ware wrapped up the day with a fifth-place showing in the men's long jump after going 7.12 meters.
Day two begins at 11 a.m. with a full schedule of events in both track and field.
