A win would extend the home winning streak to the second-longest in Cajundome history
LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – History could be made Monday night in the Cajundome as the Louisiana men's basketball team hosts Loyola (N.O.). The Ragin' Cajuns look to win their 18th straight at home for the second-longest winning streak in facility history. The win would also mark the 600th in the illustrious career of head coach Bob Marlin, across stops at Louisiana, Sam Houston State, and Pensacola Junior College.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with coverage live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen live to the voice of the Ragin' Cajuns, Jay Walker, on KPEL 96.5 FM locally or worldwide via The Varsity Network app.
The Cajuns returned with two wins last week at the Gulf Coast Showcase, including a record-setting performance in the final game against Long Beach State. The Cajuns matched the program record of 18 threes, tying the high-water mark they set just a week prior, in a 92-82 victory. Kentrell Garnett and Blake Butler scored 20 points each while Joe Charles secured his fourth double-double of the season.
Kobe Julien had a huge event, averaging 22.3 points per game, and was named to the All-Tournament Team. The junior scored a career-high 30 on Tuesday in a 68-60 win over Buffalo.
Story Lines
• Head coach Bob Marlin looks to join an elite coaching fraternity with 600 career wins. The long-time head coach has 599 wins to his name across stops at Pensacola JC, Sam Houston State, and Louisiana. Last week against Buffalo he earned the 250th of his career at Louisiana.
• Kobe Julien had a huge Gulf Coast Showcase for the Cajuns. Over the three-day event, the junior averaged 22.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds as the Cajuns went 2-1. Julien was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
