Fulks and Julien Power Offense as Cajuns Win 18th Straight at Home

The winning streak is now the second-longest in facility history

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Louisiana men's basketball team picked up where they left off in Florida on Monday night in the Cajundome, beating Loyola (La.) for their third straight win, 78-54. The win extends their home winning streak to 18 games, the second longest in Cajundome history.

Kobe Julien continued to be a problem for opposing defenses, scoring 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting in just 19 minutes. He was a perfect 3-for-3 from three and a force on the defensive end with three steals. Themus Fulks finished with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, four assists, and four rebounds.

Off the bench, a pair of players finished with career highs. Michael Thomas continued to shoot it well with 12 points while London Fields scored nine to go along with five rebounds.

The Cajuns started the night cold from the field and trailed by five early in the game. Fulks connected from three at the 16:26 mark for the team's first made field goal and from there the junior took over. Three-straight layups by Fulks gave him the team's first 10 points and a three-point advantage.

Julien followed his lead and took over from there, scoring 11 of 15 points, with Thomas scoring the other four, to build a 25-10 lead. The offense was contagious as Julien's run kickstarted a streak of 13 straight-made baskets by the team as they built a 38-19 lead.

The offense continued to control the game and after Thomas hit a layup after a steal by Fields, the Cajuns led 49-25 at the half.

Fulks hit a layup after the break to push the lead to 26 points before the Wolfpack chipped away at the lead. A 9-2 run by the visitors cut the lead under 20 and forced a timeout by Louisiana. The sides traded points before buckets by Hosana Kitenge and Blake Butler made it once again a 25-point contest. Minutes later Kitenge's layup put the Cajuns ahead 68-45 before both offenses went cold.

Neither side could score for a nearly four-minute-long stretch but the Cajuns went on a 7-0 run before the Wolfpack finished the night with the final two baskets.

Kitenge ended with eight points and a career-high seven rebounds. Kyran Ratliff added five boards along with two points and three assists.

The Cajuns hit the road to face Samford on Thursday, November 30. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.
