Ragin' Cajuns Place Six On CSC Academic All-District Team

Louisiana contingent now advances to CSC Academic All-America ballot

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team placed six players on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, which was announced by the organization on Tuesday.
 
Named to the All-District team were Alyssa Abbott, Tatum Beck, Megan Bradley, Mariella Stephens, Sisley Stephens and Hailly Waterhouse.
 
The 2023 All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-District and All-America teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 90% of the team's competitions.
 
Abbott, a senior forward/midfielder from Prairieville, Louisiana, appeared in all 18 matches on the season for the Ragin' Cajuns while starting in 10 contests. She scored one goal and added two assists on the season while posting a cumulative 4.0 grade point average in biology.
 
Beck, a junior from Flower Mound, Texas, has a 3.75 GPA in sports management. The forward played in all 18 matches on the season while starting in the first 17 contests. She scored one goal and added an assist on the season while playing in a career-best 956 minutes.
 
Bradley, a sophomore forward from Macclesfield, England, finished as Louisiana's leading scorer in 2023 with four goals and one assist. She appeared in all 18 matches for the Ragin' Cajuns with seven of her eight starts coming down the stretch. Bradley, a 3.72 student in sports management, played 755 minutes on the season with three matches (Florida International, Marshall, Texas) of over 60.
 
Mariella Stephens, a 3.94 student in speech pathology and audiology, was the lone player to start in all 18 matches on the season for the Ragin' Cajuns. The Lantana, Texas native logged 1,260 minutes on the pitch for the Ragin' Cajuns while ranking third on the team in shot attempts (14).
 
Sisley Stephens, the younger sister of Mariella Stephens, played in all 18 matches for Louisiana while earning starts in the midfield in the final 12 contests. Stephens, a 3.94 student in industrial design, scored a pair of goals with a pair of assists during the season.
 
Waterhouse, from Mandeville, Louisiana, has a 3.59 GPA as a civil engineering major. Waterhouse finished among the team leaders in goals scored (3), points (9) and minutes played (1,394) during the season while starting in 16 of 17 matches played.
 
Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
