Louisiana Heads to Foley for SBC Championships

FOLEY, Alabama - The Louisiana cross country team heads to Foley, Alabama for the Sun Belt Conference Championships. The meet starts on Saturday, October 28 at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve at 10 a.m. with the women, followed by the men.

The Cajun women's team opened the season with a bang, locking down a pair of top-10 finishes at the Early Bird Opener. Haley Salsbury led the way with a seventh-place finish in 14:18.25 with teammate Caroline Spalitta behind her in 10th with a time of 14:29.03 in the 4k event.

Last time out, Isabelle Russell paced the team at the Arturo Barrios Invite with a time of 22:37.9. Ella Segura was not far behind her in the 6k with a time of 22:54.5.

The men also began the year with a top-10 finish from Peyton Chiasson at the Early Bird Opener, running the 6k in 18:02.5 to finish sixth. Chiasson has been the top finisher in two of the team's three events this year and finished second on the Cajuns in the other. Two weeks ago at the Arturo Barrios Invite, Louden Boudreaux led the way with a time of 24.59.2 with Chiasson behind him with a time of 25:17.5.

Preseason the men were picked to finish the event in fifth while the women were picked eighth by the league's coaches.
