Louisiana Adds Three Mid-Year Transfers To 2023 Roster

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Soccer coach Chris McBride announced on Wednesday the addition of three mid-year transfers who will participate on the 2023 squad.

Joining the Ragin' Cajuns are goalkeeper Makenna Garcia (Pflugerville, Texas/Auburn), forward Briana Henry (Hamilton, Ontario/Memphis) and defender Lauren Bennett (Long Beach, Miss./Pearl River CC/Southern Miss). The trio officially began classes at Louisiana on Wednesday for the start of the Spring 2023 semester.

Did not see action ... named to the 2021 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2020-21)
Did not see action ... named to the 2020-21 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

CLUB
Competed for Lonestar SC for 10 years and transitioned to the US Development Academy for the last two seasons ... is rated a four-start recruit and the No. 9 goalkeeper in the country by Top Drawer Soccer ... helped lead Lonestar SC to the 2019 National Championship, not allowing a goal in group play before coming up just short despite making 10 saves in the championship match ... went on to be named to the Girls DA Playoffs Best XI ... turned in 15 shutouts on the season and also pitched in with a pair of assists ... finished each of the last two seasons ranked in the top six in the DA in goals against average.

HIGH SCHOOL
Competed for Hendrickson High School and head coach Rennie Rebe for one season prior to playing in the DA ... helped lead her team to the 2017 Texas 6A State Championship and was named the State Tournament MVP after turning in back-to-back shutouts in the tournament ... was also named Austin American Stateman's Newcomer of the Year ... named Academic All-District and was the Academic Hawk Pride recipient at her school.

2022 (Freshman)
Appeared in six matches as a freshman, logging 97 minutes … made collegiate debut with 21 minutes against Little Rock … played season-high 25 minutes at UAB.

Prepped at St. Jean de Brefeuf where she was an avid soccer and track & field athlete … Played club soccer for Burlington Force … Helped her Burlington Force team to a 2021 championship.

LAUREN BENNETT

2022 (Sophomore)
A second-team NJCAA All-American at Pearl River Community College … a first-team All-MACCC and All-Region 23 honoree … appeared in 17 matches with 16 starts and scored seven points (three goals and one assist) … PRCC finished the 2022 season as one of the top defensive teams in the country … part of a Wildcat defensive unit which finished the year with a 0.59 goals against average, the seventh-best in NJCAA Division II.

2021 (Freshman)
Attended Southern Mississippi as a freshman ... Played in 11 games, picking up an assist in 225 minutes on the pitch.
