Daigle Claims Women's Title at UNO Opener

Louisiana posts fourth-place finishes in season-opening meet
NEW ORLEANS - Sophie Daigle earned a nine-second victory in her Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Cross Country debut and three men's runners earned top-20 finishes in the season-opening UNO Opener on Friday at Lake Oak Park.
Louisiana earned fourth-place finishes on both the men's and women's events with the Ragin' Cajuns scoring 86 points in the men's 5K race with the women's team posting 108 points in the 4K event.
Daigle posted a time of 13:07.64 to finish nine seconds ahead of LSU's Lorena Rangel Batres in the field. Haley Salsbury (14:32.05) was 24th for Louisiana with Kamryn Williams (14:55.56) finishing 30th, Abbey Marie Ratcliff 31st (14:55.99) and Caroline Spalitta 33rd (14:56.23).
Baptiste Dupril-Dupre earned a seventh-place finish in the men's race for Louisiana after crossing the line in 15:07.80. Rashid Reese placed 16th overall (15:37.72) for the Ragin' Cajuns with Peyton Chaisson finishing 20th (15:46.57). Samuel Avants earned a 22nd-place performance (15:51.45) in his 2022 debut for Louisiana with John Walker McDonald crossing the line in 15:52.24 to finish 23rd.
Louisiana will return to action on Sept. 17 when it travels to compete in the ULM Invitational.
