Cross Country Heads North To Compete In Warhawk Invitational

Louisiana enters second meet of the season ranked 12th in Men's Regional rankings
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Cross Country team heads north for its second meet of the 2022 season when it competes in the ULM Warhawk Invitational on Saturday at Charles Johnson Children's Park.

The men's 8K race will begin at 8:35 a.m. with the women's 5K race set for 9:15.

Louisiana, ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA Men's South Central Regional rankings, opened its season on Sept. 2 with both men's and women's teams posting a fourth-place finish at the UNO XC Opener.

Baptiste Dupril-Dupre earned a seventh-place finish in the men's race for Louisiana after crossing the line in the 5K event in 15:07.80. Rashid Reese placed 16th overall (15:37.72) for the Ragin' Cajuns with Peyton Chaisson finishing 20th (15:46.57). Samuel Avants earned a 22nd-place performance (15:51.45) in his 2022 debut for Louisiana with John Walker McDonald crossing the line in 15:52.24 to finish 23rd.

Louisiana's Sophie Daigle claimed top honors in her Ragin' Cajuns Cross Country debut, posting a time of 13:07.64 to finish nine seconds in front of the next finisher in the 4K race. Haley Salsbury (14:32.05) was 24th for Louisiana with Kamryn Williams (14:55.56) finishing 30th, Abbey Marie Ratcliff 31st (14:55.99) and Caroline Spalitta 33rd (14:56.23).
