SET PIECES
• Louisiana closes out a three-match, season-opening homestand tonight when it hosts the University of Houston.

• The teams meet in Lafayette for the first time since 2014 and the 12th time overall.

• Louisiana's lone win in the series was a 1-0 decision on Oct. 9, 2001 in Houston.

• With 19 corner kicks in its first two matches, Louisiana is ranked ninth nationally in the first 2022 NCAA team statistics release.

• Twelve players have combined to take at least one of Louisiana's 28 shot attempts through the first two matches.

• Hailly Waterhouse's eight shots against Stephen F. Austin equaled the most in a single-match by a Ragin' Cajun since Savanna Young against Southeastern Louisiana in 2018.

• Waterhouse's two goals scored against SFA was her first multi-goal collegiate performance and the Ragin' Cajuns 27th individual multi-goal match in school history.

• Hometown product Jacie Crochet (Lafayette High) scored the game-winner against FIU in her Ragin' Cajuns debut.

• Ruthny Mathurin's three-point performance (1 goal, 1 assist) was the first three-point match of her collegiate career.

• The next victory for Libby Harper (6-9-3) will move her into a ninth-place tie with Alexis Stricklin (2013-14) in program history.

• Karleen Bedre and Ruthny Mathurin represent Louisiana on the 2022 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference team.

• The duo earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors in 2021 with Bedre named a second-team midfielder and Mathurin a third-team defender.

• Mariella and Sisley Stephens are one of 50 sets of sisters on NCAA Division I rosters this season.

• Louisiana has 10 international players on its 2022 roster hailing from seven countries.

RULE CHANGES FOR 2022
• Major changes to the overtime rules in men's and women's college soccer have been announced following a meeting by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel.

• Changes are set to go into effect during the 2022 season, and will be implemented for both the regular season and postseason.

• For the regular season, overtime has been eliminated, meaning if a game is tied after the regulation 90 minutes, it will end in a tie. Previously, teams played two 10-minute overtime periods in a sudden-victory (golden goal) format, and if neither team scored, the game ended in a tie.

• In conference tournaments and NCAA postseason games, the sudden-victory component has been eliminated, and teams will play two 10-minute overtime periods instead. Also, when a substitution is made by the winning team in the last five minutes of the second overtime, the game clock will stop.

• If the game remains tied, a penalty-kick shootout will be held to determine the winner.

UP NEXT
• Louisiana hits the road for its next five matches beginning on Sunday (Aug. 28) when it heads up to Ruston to face Louisiana Tech in a 1 p.m. contest.

• After matches at Lamar (Sept. 1) and Abilene Christian (Sept. 4), the Ragin' Cajuns will venture to Big Sky Country for matches at Idaho (Sept. 9) and Eastern Washington (Sept. 11).

• Louisiana's next home match will be on Sept. 16 against SBC newcomer Old Dominion.
