Mathurin Called Up To Compete For Haitian Women's National Team

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer standout Ruthny Mathurin has been invited to compete for the Haitian Women's National Team as it looks to compete in the 2023 Women's World Cup, the 2024 Gold Cup and 2024 Summer Olympics.

Mathurin, who recently completed her freshman season for Louisiana, will be attending the National Team Camp in the Dominican Republic on Feb. 14-16 before competing in a pair of matches beginning on Feb. 17 against Honduras.

During her freshman season, Mathurin finished as the third-leading scorer (2 goals, 4 assists) as a defender. The Gressier, Haiti native scored both goals and dished out a pair of assists in SBC play with both helpers coming on corner kicks (vs. Little Rock and Texas State).

Mathurin scored goals in SBC matches against Georgia State and Georgia Southern and was named the SBC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 19.

Mathurin played for the Haitian National Team in the 2020 Olympic Senior Qualifying Round in Houston, Texas and represented the Haitian National U-20 Team in the 2019 Caribbean Qualifying Stage of the WOQC in Puerto Rico and the Sud Ladies Cup in France. The defender was also a member of the 2017 Haitian National Team U17, U20, and Senior Team in the FIFA World Cup in France.
