Gudjonsson's Low Round Keeps Louisiana In Contention at Craft Farms

Ragin' Cajuns four shots back of Cincinnati heading into Tuesday's final round

GULF SHORES, Ala.Bjorn Gudjonsson kept up his solid week on the golf course, posting his season straight below-par round with a 4-under-par 68, and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team remained in contention for the team title after the second round of the 2021 Craft Farms Intercollegiate on Monday at Craft Farms Golf Resort Cotton Creek Course.
 
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. Louisiana will be paired with leader Cincinnati and Lipscomb. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com and RaginCajuns.com.
 
Gudjonsson, who opened the tournament on Sunday with a 2-under-70, equaled his career-low round to move to 6-under 138 overall and one stroke behind leader David Perkins of Illinois State. Gudjonsson overcame an early bogey for the Ragin' Cajuns at No. 2 before carding birdies at No. 3, 5 and 7 to move to 2-under 34 on the front nine.
 
The junior, who recorded the second-lowest round of the day in the 75-player field, opened the back nine with birdies at No. 10 and 12 to move into a tie for the overall lead before a bogey at No. 14 and a birdie by Perkins put Gudjonsson two strokes back. Gudjonsson came back with a birdie for Louisiana at No. 17 and finished with an identical 2-under 34 on the back nine.
 
Peter Hinnant recorded a 1-over par 73 while Charlie Flynn added a 2-over 74 as the duo each finished at 3-over 147. Hunter Hammett posted a 7-over 79 for the Ragin' Cajuns with Hudson Dubinski carding an 80.
 
Louisiana, which posted the lone round below par in Monday's opening round (286), recorded a 6-over 294 as a team in the second round to finish at 4-over 580 after 36 holes. Cincinnati leapfrogged both Louisiana and co-host South Alabama to claim the lead by four strokes after 36 holes after recording a team score of 285 and finishing at even-par 576.
 
South Alabama and Lipscomb finished in a third-place tie at 581 with Illinois State rounding out the top five at 586. Western Kentucky (587), co-host Eastern Michigan (589), Ball State (594), Southern Illinois (594) and Lamar (598) rounded out the top-10 in the 13-team field which also includes Texas State (599), Seton Hall (601) and Eastern Kentucky (610).
