Louisiana Cross Country Set for Sun Belt Championships in Mobile

LAFAYETTE – Following the conclusion of its regular season slate, Louisiana Cross Country will travel to Mobile, Ala. to compete in the Sun Belt Championships on Friday morning.

The women's 5k race is slated for 10 a.m. with the men's 8k scheduled for 11 a.m. The entire day of competition will be available to be streamed live on ESPN+.

The championships will be held at Brookley by the Bay, with the host course featuring a 400m straight away before entering into a 4m wide loop.Â
Â
Louisiana will send a 14 participant roster to the meet, with six women and eight men competing in the race.

Coming off a successful regular season, junior Lauren Cantrelle is looking to pace the Ragin' Cajun women. Cantrelle was the second Louisiana runner to cross the line at the LSU invitational 5k in September and the third member of the team to finish the 4k at the Rice Invitational.

Freshman Haley Salisbury will also travel to Mobile, Salsbury has improved upon her true-freshman campaign a year ago earning a 49th place finish in the season opener at Rice and taking 36th place in Baton Rouge.

The Ragin' Cajun men's roster will be headlined by freshman Louden Boudreaux who led the team with a 38th place result at the Rice Invite and a 29th place finish in College Station earlier in the month.

At the conference championships a season ago, the Louisiana men placed 7th while the women came in 11th.
