Ratcliff, Boudreaux pace Ragin’ Cajuns at Aturo Barrios Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas. – Freshmen Abbey Marie Ratcliff and Louden Boudreaux led Louisiana Cross Country across the finish line at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in Bryan-College Station, Texas on Saturday morning.
In the final meet of the 2021 regular-season campaign, the Ragin' Cajuns earned 29th place (817 points) in the men's 8k race and submitted a 31st place result (903 points) in the women's 6k.
Marie Ratcliff crossed the finish line in 172nd place with a time of 23:42.1, while Boudreaux took 142nd place in 25:52.6. The duo also paced the Ragin' Cajuns in the season-opening Rice Invitational.
Lipscomb raced to a first-place finish in the 8k team results, followed by UTEP, North Texas, LSU and host Texas A&M.
On the women's side, the Bisons topped the leaderboard, with Middle Tennessee, Abilene Christian, Texas A&M and Rice rounding out the top five.
Junior Samuel Avants (26:23.8) finished second for the Ragin' Cajuns in 177th place while fellow first-year Jacob Marcinkus (26:40.3) and sophomore Braden Scalisi (27:20.9) claimed 188th 218th, respectively.
Sophomore Haley Salsbury (24:05.9) followed her freshman counterpart across the line in 196th, with junior Meredith Hebert (24:47.4) and sophomore Pierra Charles (24:53.7) claiming 224th and 225th place, respectively.
Rice sophomore Grace Forbes set the Arturo Barrios women's 6k record in the meet with a time of 19:53.2.
Louisiana will turn its attention to the Sun Belt Championships on Oct. 29 in Mobile, Ala.
