Ragin’ Cajuns Welcome Virginia Tech for Weekend Series

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Baseball team welcomes Virginia Tech to M.L. 'Tigue' Moore Field at Russo Park for a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m., and lasting until Sunday. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
For this series, fans are encouraged to arrive to the park early due to the Mardi Gras traffic. For more information regarding parking, click here.
Look for Louisiana (1-4) to trot out the same starters as it did on opening weekend: RHP Conor Angel, RHP Will Moriarty and RHP Carter Robinson. The three starters were all impressive in their respective outings, tossing over four innings and giving up less than two earned runs each.
Even though Louisiana's bats have not matched the pitching, its plate discipline has been stupendous. In the team's first win at Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night, Louisiana walked a14 times, one of the top marks in program history. The Ragin' Cajuns pitching staff also registered 15 punch outs in that same game, tying last season's single-game strikeout total on May 17, 2019.
Virginia Tech (1-2) comes into Friday's battle ready to start LHP Chris Gerard. In his first start this season, he went 5.1 frames and fanned five batters without giving up a run.
The Hokies are coach by John Szefc, who was an assistant coach under Tony Robichaux from 2003-08 and in his 15th season as a colleigate baseball head coach.
