Ragin' Cajuns wrap up trip to Natural State with first meeting against Bears

CONWAY, Ark. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team wraps up its first trip to the state of Arkansas on Sunday when it faces Central Arkansas in a non-conference match at the Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. A pay-per-view stream, courtesy of UCA, will be available with live stats available at RaginCajuns.com.

After being forced to move its scheduled home matches against Little Rock and UCA due to Hurricane Delta, Louisiana (6-3) opened its unexpected trip to the Natural State with a 2-0 win over Little Rock on Friday behind goals from Gwen Mummert and Lizzie Mayfield.

A team effort on defense helped Louisiana pitch its school-record fourth consecutive shutout with freshman goalkeeper Lauryn Starwood stopping a season-high eight shots by the Trojans.

UCA (5-1-1), playing an abbreviated schedule after the Southland Conference moved its fall season to the spring, has earned four of its wins against Sun Belt competition in 2020 with a pair of wins over Little Rock, along with victories over Texas State and ULM. The Bears have posted a 4-0-1 record after dropping a 2-0 decision to in-state rival Arkansas State on Sept. 13.

The contest will be Louisiana's first-ever meeting with UCA on the soccer field and the third of four scheduled meetings this season against SLC schools. The Ragin' Cajuns have faced Abilene Christian and Stephen F. Austin this season with their next opponent – Lamar – scheduled for Thursday (Oct. 15) at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.

Should disruptions or modifications to the 2020 season occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Athletics will quickly communicate the adjustments through its social media channels and RaginCajuns.com. Additionally, the department will communicate any changes to specific entry and attendance protocols for home matches.

In the interest of public safety and following the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) Best Practices Guide, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department is implementing a clear bag policy at all venues that host ticketed events effective with the 2020-21 competition season. Information about the clear bag policy can be found by visiting www.RaginCajuns.com/clearbag.
