Louisiana, Louisiana Tech set for fourth battle on the pitch
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Soccer team takes a break from Sun Belt Conference play and continues its seven-match homestand on Friday when it welcomes in-state opponent Louisiana Tech to the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.
Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available at CajunStats.com.
Â
Louisiana (3-3-0) picked up its first SBC win of the season last Sunday in a 3-0 win over ULM. Karleen Bedre scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead Louisiana with Gwen Mummert adding a goal for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Â
The match against Louisiana Tech, which finished 13-4-3 last season, is the fourth all-time between the schools and the first since 2014. The Lady Techsters are playing the first of two countable non-conference matches during the fall after the Conference USA Board of Directors announced in August the postponement of fall team sports (with the exception of football), as well as fall C-USA championships in those sports to the spring of 2021.
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility will operate at a significantly reduced capacity for the 2020 season (unless state policy changes during the season). This will allow for fans and University students to be accommodated this season.
Â
Should disruptions or modifications to the 2020 season occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Athletics will quickly communicate the adjustments through its social media channels and RaginCajuns.com. Additionally, the department will communicate any changes to specific entry and attendance protocols for home matches.
Â
In the interest of public safety and following the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) Best Practices Guide, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Athletics Department is implementing a clear bag policy at all venues that host ticketed events effective with the 2020-21 competition season. Information about the clear bag policy can be found by visiting www.RaginCajuns.com/clearbag.
