Louisiana looks for third straight victory
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Coming off its second consecutive shutout victory, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team hits the road when it battles Sam Houston State on Sunday at Pritchett Field.

Louisiana (2-2-1) earned a 3-0 victory over in-state opponent Southern University on Thursday behind goals from Katherine Whitman, Una Einarsdottir and Sykla Sykes. Mackenzie Lee and Victoria Mendes combined on a shutout for Louisiana with Rachel Sutter, Karleen Bedre, Hailey Daigle and Sykes each credited with assists.

Sam Houston State (1-3) earned its first victory of the season with a 5-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Bearkats struck for three goals in a 30-minute span of the first half with Carlota Suarez-Crespo scoring twice to lead SHSU.

The match against SHSU is the first of three straight against Southland Conference schools for Louisiana and the fourth regular-season match overall. The Ragin' Cajuns will return home to host Nicholls State on Wednesday (Sept. 11) before traveling to face Northwestern State on Sept. 15.

• The contest will be the 12th all-time meeting between the schools with Louisiana holding an 8-3 lead in the series.
• The match will be the first since a 5-1 Louisiana victory on Sept. 10, 2017 in Lafayette.
