Louisiana wraps up Cardinal Classic against host Cardinals
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team wraps up its first week of competition on Sunday when it visits Lamar University in the final match of the 2019 Cardinal Classic at the LU Soccer Complex.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Links to live results and live video will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
Louisiana (0-1-0) opened its season on Thursday, falling to UTSA in a 3-0 contest. Mackenzie Lee stopped six Roadrunner shots for the Ragin' Cajuns with Una Einarsdottir, Rainey Niles and redshirt freshman Hailey Daigle each recording shot attempts.
Lamar (0-1-0) fell 3-0 to Oklahoma State in its opener on Thursday as goalkeeper Sandra Nygard faced 23 shots with eight saves. Kaisa Junonen and Lucy Ashworth each collected two shots for Lamar, which was outshot 23-7.
The Ragin' Cajuns lead the all-time series, 4-1, with the Cardinals claiming their first win of the series in the previous meeting, a 3-1 decision on Aug. 20, 2017 in Beaumont.
After facing Lamar, Louisiana will continue its season-opening, four-match road trip with contests at Northern Illinois (Aug. 30) and Chicago State (Sept. 1) before hosting Southern University in its 2019 home opener on Sept. 5 at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.
