@RaginCajunsMT Wraps Up 2019 Regular Season With A Visit To UT Arlington

4/12/2019 9:24:00 AM | Men's Tennis

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – After a successful Senior Day, Louisiana Men's Tennis (21-8, 3-3 SBC) will wrap up its best regular season since 1986 on Sunday, April 14, with a quick trip west for a Sun Belt Conference matchup at UT Arlington (13-8, 3-2 SBC), with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m.

21 REASONS: Louisiana's win over Troy on Senior Day, was Louisiana's 21st win of the season, which are the most wins in a season for the Ragin' Cajuns since 1986 when Louisiana went 21-9 and earned a season-high 20th national ranking.  The 20-plus wins is also the second time since 1986, the other being during Louisiana's 2014 Sun Belt Championship winning season, where Louisiana finished 20-5.

BOWING OUT IN STYLE: Senior Arthur Libaud came to play during Senior Day, winning his match in straight sets at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2, snagging Louisiana's first win in singles in the match.  During his final weekend at Cajun Courts, Libaud went 2-0 and he currently sits second on the team in singles wins, carrying a 17-6 record into Saturday's match.

THREE TIMES THE DOUBLE FIGURES: Louisiana's singles have been strong all season long, and it shows as Louisiana has three members of the squad who have collected at least 10 wins in singles.  Junior Jamie Fraser leads the way, going 18-4, while Libaud (17-6) is right behind him.  Freshman Jan Galka has been impressive, playing No. 1 singles, and he has clocked in with a 10-8 record through his first collegiate spring.

WHAT THE MAVERICKS BRING: UT Arlington enters the match sitting just above Louisiana in the conference standings, with Louisiana in fifth and UT Arlington in fourth.  UT Arlington's last two conference matches have resulted in wins for the Mavs and out of the last four matches UT Arlington has won three of them.

The Mavericks do enter the matchup with Louisiana having dropped their previous match, 4-1, against Wichita State on April 8.  This will be the first matchup between Louisiana and UT Arlington since the Mavericks took a 2016 match, 4-0, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since 2007, Louisiana holds a 5-1 advantage over the Mavericks and this will be the first time the two sides have met in Arlington, Texas since 2014.
